Building Faith

Know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but
by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in
Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and
not by observing the law, because by observing the law no
one will be justified. For if righteousness could be gained
through the law, Christ died for nothing!

   Galatians 2:16, 21b

I feel like these verses hit home on a few things that God's been pointing out to me lately in my relationship with Him...For far to long I've settled in the fact that I've been a "good" person, "observing the law" and thinking that because I've done that, I've been good with God.  I haven't been worried about building my relationship with God and definitely haven't been putting my faith in Him like I should.  I've been putting my faith in my job, my finances, more relationship with my wife, friends, and family.  None of those things can do for me what God can do for me.  I have to work on building my trust/faith in God.  Like these verses say, "if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"  We hear that Christ died for us...but do we truly feel/understand what that means?  He died so that we could live eternally with Him in Heaven.  He wants a relationship with each and every one of us and longs to be the focal point of our lives.  We just have to put our trust and faith in Him...sadly that is easier said than done...at least for me.  I have to dig deeper in my relationship with God and truly seek out who He is.  I need to worship God and get to know Him through prayer and reading and praying some more!
