Daily Scripture

"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."

This cleverly designed concept comforter has a traditional bedtime story written on it in a large font size. Each page adds a layer of warmth over your body and by the time you are done with the story you will be ready to count sheep under your comfy and warm bedtime comforter! I think the story is basically "Sleeping Beauty."

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

The Consequences of Uncontrolled Anger

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

Daily Scripture

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

Daily Scripture

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Daily Scripture

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Daily Scripture

Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Week #3 Worrywarts

For this week...

READ: Luke 12:22-31 and Philippians 4:6-9

With exams coming up for a bunch of us, I figured it would be a good idea for us to look at some scripture talking about worrying. We worry about school, work, and things in our personal life. Jesus tells us that we should not worry about anything (Luke 12:22). Many of us worry about failing. We are afraid that we won't pass a class, we won't do well on a test, or that we will make some kind of a mistake. Fear of failure, or fear of making mistakes, causes us to worry.

Philippians 4:6-7 says do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We should pray about life's worries. Believers are commanded to pray about their life's worries. When we pray about our worries, we should not only seek favorable help. Our prayers should include thanksgiving and praise along with our needs. God continually provides us with blessings, whether we ask for them or not. This is evidence of God's great love for us. He always knows, and does, what is best for us.

Closing:
With all of the different things going on in school, at our jobs, and in our personal lives, it is important for us not to worry. If you have an exam coming up, or a project at work, that you have to do well on, prepare yourself as well as possible and pray. God will take care of everything for us, as long as we fulfill our part. I'm not saying you will get all 100's, but the Lord knows what we need, and He will always take care of us. So do not worry about anything, instead, make your requests known to God and put your trust in Him. He will provide for your needs.

***Week #2 Ignoring God Recap***

I think we can all agree that many of us do not give God the amount of attention He deserves. Many of us often times refuse to acknowledge our rebellion against God. Some people reject His Son Jesus as Savior. God's authority is ignored and replaced by the individual's own selfish intentions. Those who reject Christ's offer of salvation remain under God's judgment and face an eternity without Him.

Some of us ignore God by failing to make it a priority to learn what pleases Him. Sometimes, we know what He wants but we choose to pursue our own desires. At times, we forget we're children of God and act like the world around us. Our preferences always fight for full attention. But believers have a clear choice to ignore God or ignore the desires of the flesh.

The Lord expects us to give Him our full attention. When our minds focus on God, life revolves around discovering Him and becoming more like Him. We should always strive to keep our focus on God and the things that we can do to please Him.

Daily Scripture

If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Daily Scripture

For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.

Matthew 12: 34-37
