For this week...
READ: Luke 12:22-31 and Philippians 4:6-9
With exams coming up for a bunch of us, I figured it would be a good idea for us to look at some scripture talking about worrying. We worry about school, work, and things in our personal life. Jesus tells us that we should not worry about anything (Luke 12:22). Many of us worry about failing. We are afraid that we won't pass a class, we won't do well on a test, or that we will make some kind of a mistake. Fear of failure, or fear of making mistakes, causes us to worry.
Philippians 4:6-7 says do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We should pray about life's worries. Believers are commanded to pray about their life's worries. When we pray about our worries, we should not only seek favorable help. Our prayers should include thanksgiving and praise along with our needs. God continually provides us with blessings, whether we ask for them or not. This is evidence of God's great love for us. He always knows, and does, what is best for us.
Closing:
With all of the different things going on in school, at our jobs, and in our personal lives, it is important for us not to worry. If you have an exam coming up, or a project at work, that you have to do well on, prepare yourself as well as possible and pray. God will take care of everything for us, as long as we fulfill our part. I'm not saying you will get all 100's, but the Lord knows what we need, and He will always take care of us. So do not worry about anything, instead, make your requests known to God and put your trust in Him. He will provide for your needs.
Oddly enough, I havent been too concerned about my upcoming exams(which could be a good thing or a bad thing) but instead I've been worrying my personal walk and my lack of desire as of late. Who knows what brought it on, but reading a little bit of Job today- I'm feeling a little bit foolish for even asking some of my questions- as Job says "surely i spoke of things i did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know..."
ReplyDeleteI have got to accept that God is big enough to handle my questions about Christianity, His Word etc. Who knows what i have been missing while pillaging through my own misunderstandings! I love the piece about Barnabas, what a guy to model my life after~
I'm pretty much the same as you Catie...I haven't really thought much about my exams coming up. I'M READY TO GRADUATE lol. As far as having a lack of desire, and questioning different aspects of our faith and beliefs...I think that is something we all struggle with. The way the world works these days, we are constantly being hit up with new ideas, different ways of thinking and believing, and our faith and belief in Christ seems to always be put on trial. The Lord stays put in our relationship, we are the ones that create the separation. The Lord is always there to welcome us back with his arms wide open (great song btw). So definitely don't feel like you are the only one that has these types of feelings. We are all on a spiritual journey and are all looking for answers. All of our answers are provided for us through God's word and through our faith in him, we just have to do our part in finding them. I really liked the piece on Barnabas too...he is definitely a good candidate to look at for a positive Christ-like lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteneato- i thank you for those thoughts- It is definitely necessary to hear that others have the same feelings. I hate that my 'feelings' get in the way of fact... I like the idea of being open minded and objective but it can lead to disillusionment and a wandering heart. I love the piece about putting my faith in the relationship, NOT the religion.
