What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
James 2:14-17
I would say that the issue of faith has been paramount in my life in the last 5 weeks. Being "benched" by my injury has sucked, but instead of being accepting and calm, I have questioned and fought God. It is so obvious that this is a deed i need to carry out! Great reading selection.
ReplyDeleteI agree Catie...i know there are times when i've been like, "glad thats not me..." but i don't do anything to try to help the other person out, or don't think twice about them and their situation. It is important for us to have faith and to allow our faith to flourish, but like these versus say, our faith is practically nothing "if it is not accompanied by action." We should look for opportunities to help others, even when don't always feel like it.
