I think we can all agree that most of us don't like being ignored. We get frustrated when people don't pay attention to us. Sometimes it is our teachers, our friends, or maybe even our own family members. We may want their attention, but their focus is somewhere else.
Psalm 139:13 says God formed each of us in our mother's womb and gave us life, breath, and everything we own. I think it is safe to say that God deserves our attention. Sadly, a majority of the world ignores Him. Even Christians don't always give God the attention He deserves. At times, we can all be like little children and be easily sidetracked by worldly pleasures and distractions. When we let this happen, we take our mind off of God and begin pursuing our own earthly desires.
So as you read this week's passage, I want you to think about these questions:
What types of things take your attention away from God?
What are some things you can do to improve your focus on God?Now post some comments!!! HA...God Bless
yikes, this passage brought a guilty head shake... its so true that my selfish pride gets hurt when i am ignored and i do not really have anything to be proud about, minus the fact that Jesus agreed to save me-I cannot fathom how God, creator among hundreds of other listings on his resume feels when i ignore him. I find myself using the excuse, "oh if there were just more hours in the day" but the fact remains that I pick and choose when I want to give God my full attention. Lately, school has definitely taken precedence over spending quality time with God. My religion course has raised so many questions about Christianity and sometimes dwelling on those questions is fatiguing! If i can do one thing right this week, it will be to give God more moments in my day- moments when I could think about myself I will try to turn over to him, moments that could be filled with useless ipod music- will be geared toward thinking about His will
ReplyDeleteAs I read these versus, I realize how often I get so caught up in my own personal life and ignore God. To think that He is the One who has blessed me with the ability to do many things-and I simply ignore him! There are times when I think my life and my days are so busy that I just cannot cram anything else into my day, and all to often, I ignore my quiet time or my prayer time. These versus have helped me see that my life and my so called "busy" days need to revolve around my heavenly Father who gives me the strength to make it through each day.
