Interesting Site...

Hello All...

Stumbled across a site today that I think is pretty cool. It is an online site that has videos posted with Rob Bell speaking on different issues that each of us face day in and day out. Here is an excerpt from the site:

We want spiritual direction, but it has to be real for us
and available when we need it. We want a new format for
getting Christian perspectives.

NOOMA is the new format.

It's short films with communicators that really speak to us.
Compact, portable, and concise. Each NOOMA touches on
issues that we care about, that we want to talk about,
and it comes in a way that fits our world.
It's a format that's there for us when we need it,
as we need it, how we need it.

I have only seen one of the videos, but I thought it was pretty good. I will be checking out more soon. Here is the site: www.nooma.com

Fitness...

Hello All...

I decided not to type up a weekly Bible study this week...didn't study up and prepare like I should have (please forgive). I ran across this devotional though and thought it shined a light on a subject not always on the list of Biblical topics.

--------------------------

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

Are you shaping up or spreading out? Do you eat sensibly and exercise regularly, or do you spend most of your time on the couch with a [bag of cookies] in one hand and a clicker in the other? Are you choosing to treat your body like a temple or a trash heap? How you answer these questions will help determine how long you live and how well you live.

Physical fitness is a choice, a choice that requires discipline--it's as simple as that. So, do yourself this favor; treat your body like a one-of-a-kind gift from God...because that's precisely what your body is.You can't buy good health at a doctor's office--you've got to earn it for yourself.
Marie T. Freeman

It is important to set goals because if you do not have a plan, a goal, a direction, a purpose, and a focus, you are not going to accomplish anything for the glory of God.
Bill Bright

-A Prayer-
Lord, all that I am belongs to You. As I serve You with all that I am and all that I have, help me to honor You by caring for the body that You have given me. Amen.

Week #30 What is True Success?

This week's study is up. Had some really nice responses to last week's post: Week #29 Working for God. I hope this week we have more of the same.

I want to thank all of you who check out the blog and comment regularly and welcome those of you checking it out for the first time. Check out the new post this week when you get a chance and I look forward to reading some of your comments!

Week #30 What is True Success?

Oh...I also put up a thing for an RSS feed on the Weekly Bible Study page. I am not 100% sure how those things work, but if you click on it and click your email provider (if it is up there), I think you will get updates whenever I post something new to the blog. Try it out if you would like, and if you have a better explanation of what it is, please let me know.

Week #29 Working for God

Hope everyone is having a great week. I posted this week's Bible Study. I think you all will like it and hopefully it will spark some emotion. I am not technically working right now, but good thing this post is meant for any kind of work, professional and "everyday" tasks.

Ooo...

No new post this week. Didn't get any comments, so I don't think many people were able to check out the blog. I'm going to leave it up for at least another week before I put up another one. I also have a short list to post of things I can now cross off my "Things I've Never Done" list, that I will put up this weekend at some point (thanks to some wonderful friends God has blessed me with).

Looking forward to it? Me too!

Thank God!

Wanted to do a little Praising Jesus for some of the many things He has done recently...
  • Friend of mine got an internship she needed yesterday!
  • My dad has continued to get better and stronger day by day.
  • Friend's mother is recovering from a successful knee surgery.
  • One friend had safe travels on a trip to California for a NCAA rowing match. We pray for them to do well in the race(s) and to have a safe trip back.
  • Kind words and inspiration from a variety of people on the blog! (Thank you.)

These are just a few things I have seen God do recently. Feel free to list more things and any prayer requests you may have. Happy Thoughts and God Bless!

Books I Want to Read (Part 1)

I have been really trying to read more lately. I feel like I watch TV way too much (except for basketball season, then I can't get enough ah ha). Here are few "christian books" that I want to read in the near future. I think I can do it...

  1. In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars by Mark Batterson
  2. unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks about Christianity...and Why it Matters by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons
  3. Future Men by Douglas Wilson
  4. Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow
  5. Becoming a Contagious Christian by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittelburg

Week #25 Story in an Email

Howdy Doodie Folks...

Took it easy this week and decided to post a story I read in an email I received not too long ago. Some of you may have read it, some of you probably haven't.

It has a great message and really makes me think about the way we spend our time here on earth and the types of things we value.

When you get a chance...please read this story about a guy with a really nice car, two little boys, a brick, and a wheelchair. It rocks!

Week #24 Scaredy Cat

Hello All...

I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and concerns for my dad over the past week. It truly means a lot to him and our family.

This past week has really opened my eyes to how fragile life can be and how quickly your entire life can be totally flipped upside down. I can't even begin to imagine the pain and discomfort my dad is and has been experiencing over these past few days.

I can't count the number of things that I have seen God doing through all of this and it is amazing. I hate that this happened to my dad, but it is comforting to know that God has complete control over everything that is going on. When I feel helpless, I know that God is not and that He hasn't and will not leave my dad alone and that makes me smile. God is awesome!

Please keep the prayers coming. We have a long road ahead of us, but light at the end of the tunnel is very bright.

Interesting Truck

Never give the devil a ride. He will always want to drive.
...God
Proverbs 17:22
I saw this on the side of an 18-wheeler today on the highway. Thought it was pretty cool/funny.
